Bronchoscopy-Guided Cricothyrotomy and Tracheostomy Trainer

The bronchoscopy-guided cricothyrotomy and tracheostomy trainer replicates the surface of the neck with the underlying airway structures for practicing cricothyrotomy and tracheostomy. The model features replaceable neck inserts with anatomical structures, as well as replaceable tracheas that can be exchanged after each procedure.

Skills trained:

• Identifying the causes of airway obstruction in various clinical conditions;
• Applying upper airway management protocols in practice, both in and outside the hospital;
• Cricothyrotomy technique;
• Percutaneous tracheostomy techniques;
• Palpating anatomical landmarks: the thyroid cartilage, cricothyroid membrane, cricoid cartilage, and tracheal rings;
• Preparing the surgical field;
• Making a correct incision in the required location, minimizing tissue damage and avoiding potentially dangerous complications of the procedure;
• Blunt dissection of the subcutaneous tissue;
• Placing the tracheostomy tube over a guide, then removing the guide, inflating the cuff to create a seal, and attaching the connector to the tube;
• Performing artificial lung ventilation, including with an Ambu bag;
• Securing the tracheostomy tube to the neck with a tie;
• Verifying correct performance of the procedure in real time using a bronchoscope;
• Tracheostomy care techniques and protocols.
