Hip dysplasia is one of the most common congenital conditions and can lead to subluxation or dislocation of the hip. The degree of joint underdevelopment varies widely — from gross abnormalities to excessive mobility combined with ligament laxity. To prevent possible adverse outcomes, hip dysplasia must be detected and treated early — in the first months and years of a child's life.

Diagnosis includes the following steps:

• The infant trainer is placed supine on a firm, stable surface;
• The infant's legs are flexed and grasped with the palms so that fingers II–V lie along the outer surface and the thumbs along the inner surface;
• The hips are abducted evenly and gradually. In dysplasia, a characteristic clunk is felt on the affected side — the moment when the femoral head reduces from the dislocated position into the acetabulum.

Trainer body components:

• The trainer simulates an infant approximately 6 months old and consists of two main parts — an upper part (torso) and a lower part (hip joint and legs). The lower part is the main working area on which hip dysplasia examination is taught.
• The lower part is a replaceable insert that locks securely in place and is available in two versions — "Pathology" and "Normal".
