Pancreas Surgical Trainer

Pancreas model for surgical skills training.

The pancreas model is intended for practicing surgical skills as well as for teaching suture placement on pancreatic tissue.

The surgical trainer is realistic in shape, anatomically accurate in size, and made of a soft material.

This pancreas model contains one vessel lying at depth within the tissue.

Skills trained:

• Interventions on pancreatic vessels: ligation and clipping of vessels, suture ligation;
• Simulation of pancreatic surgical procedures: pancreaticoduodenal resection (Whipple procedure); distal pancreatectomy;
• Transection of the pancreas at a defined level;
• Reconstruction after pancreaticoduodenectomy: creation of a pancreaticojejunal anastomosis in various end-to-end or end-to-side modifications during the reconstructive stage of the operation;
• Placement of two rows of interrupted sutures using non-absorbable suture material on an atraumatic needle: between the pancreatic parenchyma and the seromuscular layer of the jejunum, and between the pancreatic duct and the jejunal mucosa;
• After distal pancreatectomy: technique for closing the pancreatic stump.
