Skin Infiltration Anesthesia Trainer

The surgical skin infiltration anesthesia trainer is designed for practicing skin infiltration anesthesia skills.

The following anesthesia techniques can be practiced on this trainer:

• Fluid infiltration;
• Encircling with a suture;
• Fan technique.

Skills trained:

• Infiltration anesthesia — saturating all tissues of the surgical field with a local anesthetic solution;
• Learning the technique of local infiltration anesthesia of soft tissues;
• Selecting the needle insertion site;
• Fan-shaped injection of the anesthetic;
• Perimeter injection: the anesthetic is injected into the planned incision area across its width and length and to the required depth of the surgical intervention;
• To create a "lemon peel" wheal, 2–5 ml of anesthetic is injected intradermally with a fine needle;
• The needle is then replaced with a larger one and, advancing it deeper, layer-by-layer infiltration of the tissues with the anesthetic solution is continued to the full depth of the planned surgical intervention.
