Traumatic Wound Model
Traumatic wound model for general surgical skills training.
The model is a three-layer pad with a realistic simulation of a contaminated lacerated wound.
The individual layers are colored differently, matching human tissues:
- Skin;
- Subcutaneous fat;
- Muscle layer.
The wound contains the following elements:
- A fractured bone with fragments;
- A tendon;
- A fluid-filled vein;
- Necrotic tissue;
- Foreign bodies.
Skills trained:
- Can be connected to a blood-flow simulation system;
- Performing primary surgical debridement of the wound:
- Preparing the operative field;
- Local anesthesia of the tissues;
- Incision of the wound;
- Exploration of the wound tract;
- Removal of foreign bodies;
- Excision of the wound edges, walls, and base (removal of necrotic, non-viable, and heavily contaminated tissue);
- Final hemostasis;
- Restoring the integrity of damaged tissues and structures;
- Suturing the wound, with drains left in place where indicated;
- After debridement the wound becomes an incised wound (clean edges; no crushed, contaminated, or non-viable tissue), allowing relatively rapid healing by primary intention.
Package contents:
- Traumatic wound (multilayer model) — 1 pc;
- Transport packaging.
